Obviously the officer's fault: him backing up only encouraged the guy with the knives to chase him. He should have stood still and spoke softly to deescalate the situation. And he had time to fire 3 shots - more than enough opportunity for two shots to hit the knives, and knock them out of the aggressor's hands.

You couldn't pay me enough to do what police are expected to: give screaming maniacs with weapons every last chance to not get themselves shot.

As this Sxxx (stuff) keeps happening and police get killed, wounded and jailed soon we can't pay anyone enough to do those jobs, especially in big cities.
