Texans can carry handguns without a license or training starting Sept. 1, after Gov. Greg Abbott signs permitless carry bill into law
Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and other Republicans who were initially noncommittal about the bill were under immense political pressure this session from conservatives and gun rights advocates, who have long lobbied the Texas Legislature for permitless carry.
Texans can carry handguns without a license or training starting Sept. 1, after Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday signed the permitless carry bill into law.

House Bill 1927 eliminates the requirement for Texas residents to obtain a license to carry handguns if they’re not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a gun. The signing was reported by the Texas Legislature's official website, which tracks the progress of legislation. Abbott's office has announced a ceremonial signing of the bill and other gun-related legislation at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Watching the drastic change over the 35 years that map charts still amazes me.
I will never apologize for being an American.

I'm curious about that as well. Everything I read qualifies 'residents'.

I did come across this new TX legislation:
The second bill, which Abbott signed on Tuesday, according to the state Legislature's webpage, exempts Texas-made suppressors, also known as silencers, from the National Firearms Act, a body of laws that in part require gun owners to register NFA items, including suppressors and short-barreled rifles, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives before paying a $200 tax.

I remember the absolute hysteria the left went into when Florida passed shall issue.

BLOOD IN THE STREETS! WILD WEST! SHOOTINGS OVER PARKING SPACES! BODIES STACKED LIKE CORDWOOD!

Funny over 35 or so years their arguments not coming true, they still haven't changed.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Yep;

About 20 states went to 'Unrestricted' in the past decade.
It appears that the acknowledgement of rights, at least with regards to the carry issue, has accelerated.

I doubt reciprocity changed and MN permits where never on thier list. If you have dual (MN and FL) you're good to go.
If you're having second thoughts you're two ahead of most Democrats

And the "Dodge City" arguments were refuted once enough states showed otherwise.

A few states have tried various forms of "within our state only" firearms laws but I don't know if they've survived legal challenges. Remember, the SCOTUS once upheld a law forbidding a farmer from growing excess grain on his own land to feed his own livestock https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wickard_v._Filburn. By that standard virtually everything is "interstate commerce".

This could possibly change, but not without a fight on our end though. If the portion of our law that is being challenged right now, prohibiting 18-20 year old carry is struck down that puts MN and TX law more compatible. One of the reasons stated on MN end is that the Texas law, which allows 18-20 year olds to carry, is substantially different from our law so we don't recognize TX. TX doesn't recognize our permits because we don't recognize theirs.

Hopefully. In the mean time my FL MN combo serves me well in winter.

As I understand it, if you can legally own a handgun You can carry no permit required. That includes nonresidents.
Welcome to the Texas! The wife and I made a permanent move from Minnesota several years ago when we retired. Got rid of a bunch of taxes and increased our disposable income over $14000 annually

Though it's been a while since I looked into it, I believe that is the issue that keeps MN from recognizing Colorado, and thus Colorado not recognizing MN.
It's worth noting that, last time I checked, MN does not participate in any reciprocity agreements. We (MN) either recognize another state, or we don't. That often causes the other state to not recognize MN.
