Interesting that guns and knives are not allowed in.

Where did you find that? I found this in the FAQ"s

Is concealed carry allowed at the Show?

During the 151st NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, personal firearms may be carried in the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRBCC) in accordance with Texas law. When carrying your firearm, always adhere to all federal, state, and local laws.

I find no text that suggests carrying a gun or knife is prohibited.

Firearms are prohibited in the auditorium where former President Trump is speaking. That's it.

And that's because of Secret Service restrictions, not the NRA.

The timing and location of the convention are extremely unfortunate.

A- True

B- It doesn't make any difference

I'm far from an NRA fanboy, but had their school safety plan been followed almost 10 years ago, we would not be where we are today.
I don't doubt the usual suspects who dismissed school safety then, will be screaming at the clouds, louder than ever to do 'something'.

After all, one can never let a crisis go to waste, especially if, you can foment the next crisis.
