Are they really that dumb

From article on gun control. If a "substantial" number support it but 78% think it will do nothing why would that substantial number bother supporting it? Or is this just describing how dems think?

When President Joe Biden signed a bill last year to fight gun violence — the first such measure to pass Congress in a generation — a substantial majority supported it. But 78% said they believed it would do little or nothing at all, a survey by the Pew Research Center found"

They may not think it will reduce crime, but they're certain it will inconvenience gun owners. And the harder you make it to legally own a gun, the fewer gun owners there will be.

And always remember - they're goal isn't a world without guns, it's a world without gun owners.

There are a lot of people who subscribe to the idea that you have to do something even if it makes no change, just to show you care.

Aka virtue signaling.
