Security Guard Arrested After Altercation?

I wonder what the back story is on this? 2 AM, a "security guard" (Q: Same thing as a 'bouncer'?) is drawn into a situation an where both he and the presumed perp are stabbed. Security guard arrested for assault. As always, the language of the article tends to indict whoever was trying to shut down the belligerent party and this wouldn't be a blue state unless the more responsible party was arrested. But who knows, maybe there is a back story on this one?

As an aside - being at a downtown bar much less at 2:00 AM is something to avoid like the plague. I can't imaging the people that the security guards must have to deal with on a regular basis. I bet this is just another night for them. Thoughts?

I suspect security guards and bouncers range on a continuum from bikers, and tough guys drinking free ... to uniformed guards .... to off duty LEOs.
That a security personnel uses knife seems odd to me, but that could well depend on the situation and circumstances.
Other media said the victim was stabbed in the neck.
Knowing nothing about 'The Saloon', reading some reviews describe it as a 'comfortable' gay bar.
Personally, I have passed on too many to count - concerts, banquet dinners, etc due to their being located in DnTn Mpls.
