How would I go about getting a report like that from my neck of the woods?

If you promise not to "Hit me in the Head with a brick for not Sharing my Beer", and you live in the city of Minneapolis:

LindBohanonNA@aol.com

is the one for the 4th.

All the action is in the 4th. More guns are recovered from here than the other 4 combined.

The Third is : City of Minneapolis [minneapolis@govdelivery.com]

Probably go to the third and see if you can follow a link to where you are.

I get similar stuff for the 5th, with tends to have much less crime. 4th put its stuff directly on-line, which is nice.

Normally you can get most things by asking your CPS, Strad.

Yours is Sue Roethele - 612-673-2839
sue.roethele@ci.minneapolis.mn.us

Also, the MPD posts all kinds of data:

http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/ ... /index.asp

And specifically, your precinct does, too, in particular, check the CLEAN sheets:

http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/ ... ecinct.asp

Here's a handy police reference map:

Of course you are welcome to comment on http://www.mplscrimewatch.blogspot.com/ , as well.

I get emails from the 1st precinct nearly every day (I work in that area) though I live in Woodbury.

If anything, Minneapolis is pretty open with their data.

This site is surprisingly quite current: http://www.spotcrime.com/mn/minneapolis

If you start here, you can also get info for Duluth, Rochester, U of M, and St. Paul, and even break St. Paul & Mpls down by neighborhood.
Decrypt the points of departure and return your head slowly and you do not cancel your hair.

3 Pages of shootings this week. I think there is more "Brass" on the Streets of North Minneapolis, than the Floor at Bills.
