Hey from Rosemount!

Hey everyone,

Name is Mike, from Rosemount. I've worked in Plymouth for the past 3 years and I still hate the commute and 494.

During down time I peruse various material online and have recently decided to get my first gun, haven't got it yet tho.

I'm new to guns in general and trying to figure out where to look for good deals.

Mike

Welcome!

For the actual purchase, avoid gander mountain like the plague. Their prices are horrible.

Frontiersman and the Gunstop are both relatively near you. Fleet Farm if its a long gun isn't terrible. Bud's gun shop online as a Plan B. Nice to look at a gun before you buy it of course.

What are you after? Handgun, Rifle, Shotgun?

Good luck and congratulations on getting your first gun. Feel free to ask away if you have questions. Take answers with a grain of salt. No matter what you want, somebody will inevitably hate it, and somebody will inevitably love it.

The Gander Mountain prices were the first thing I noted to myself to avoid, what a rip off.

I'm looking for a hand gun, one that I can eventually conceal. I'm actually debating between a Kahr CW9 and a Ruger SR9c. Although I saw a used Sig 226 for sale on this site which is tempting.

I'll have to swing by Gunstop tonight. I've been to the Frontiersman on the way home from work already? Any locations near Rosemount/S/SE metro worth noting?

Thanks

If I had moved down here earlier I think I would have been a Jake's guy, but they are all boarded up now!

Welcome to mnguntalk... I like Frontiersman. Herb is a good guy to deal with. The other two not so much. A lot of guys here like Gunstop. I have never liked the people there. The reloading side is great but the other.. Not so much, at least that is what I have experienced.

Just drink the Sig Kool-Aid before one of us do. Besides the ruger seems to have the QC issues and kars are hit or miss.
