New selling members

Postby mmcnx2 on Wed Apr 20, 2011 12:39 pm

Anyone else notice we seemed to have amassed a few new users that seem to only post items for sale. Not saying folks should not use the for sale section, heck I just had the great fortune to sell a bike there. However, it appears some of these guys don't offer anything to the board other than trying to unload their stuff.

Maybe we should require a minimum post count before being able to sell or get approved by a mod kinda like strategy. Just a thought.

This has been discussed before. That new guy might post a firearm for sale that I've been coveting for years. He also might meet another board member on the sale. You never know they might then decide to stay and contribute, or tell a friend where he sold his gun. If not, I will still buy their stuff.

Just what we need. A bunch more people who post for no value or reason other than to add to their post count. The signal to noise ratio is already low.

It's not about the S/N ratio, it's about Clout.

Don't forget it.

I'd kinda like to see a 10 post minimum, however the free market will take care of one post selling wonders. I won't buy from someone unless they have some level of Clout.

This thread right here: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=19551 It's a clout black hole.

This issue, including minimum post counts, has been discussed at length by the mod staff on numerous occasions. For a number of reasons I can say with a fair amount of certainty that the board policy will not change on this issue anytime in the near future.

Thanks for the suggestions and input though! Keep on keeping on.

that's how i got to this god forsaken wasteland.... i was wanting to buy a gun, a mamber of this board told me one was listed here, i got on here with the only purpose of buying said item. seems i've stuck around.

the marketplace is something that draws buyers/sellers to the site. it's traffic. some stick, some don't. FWIW, whatever.

There is no need for minimum post restrictions. Why? Simple if someone is selling something and has very few posts, I am simply that much more wary than I would be anyway, really if you are buying things based not on the condition of the item when you meet the person but on their board "clout" your an idiot.

Oh and sorry to the new members for threads like this, please do not leave we need all the new blood we can to help with the signal to noise ratio.

This thread needs to be flagged. I would like to purchase a member however the OP seems to not have posted any pics or a price. Please post both, this is not an auction site. What is the posting count of these memebers? Are they still new in package if not I do not think you can call them new. How many do you have because if they are low post count I may need more than one. Do you require, PTP, PTC, DL and blood test? Or can I come across state lines and buy with a counter check?
