Walt signing on here. I have been shooting since I was a kid, in fact I used to walk my Grandfather's model 12 shotgun through town inside a cloth sack back in the day to hunt pheasants and barn pigeons. So that dates me as an older individual, I guess. I bought my first handgun in 1979 - a S&W K-17 and also joined the NRA the same year.
Today, I'm a Benefactor Life member of the NRA and I've been member of the Minnetonka Sportsman's Club since 1996. I enjoy all shooting sports, from target to clays to muzzle-loader and I own a variety of firearms. I like deer and grouse hunting best, but I'd probably hunting anything if given the opportunity. I have an old place in Ontario that I've been going to since it was built by my Father and his buddies back in 1957. It's on a chain of lakes that extends over 50 miles via a couple of mechanical portages. I spend most of the summer months at the cabin where I enjoy fishing and 4-wheeling on the miles upon miles of logging roads. Come fall, it's time to bag a couple of grouse and throw another log in the wood stove to chase away the chill.
I also enjoy cars and trucks and I've been doing my own vehicle maintenance for decades. My current ride is a Ford Excursion 4x4 with the 7.3L diesel engine. The big truck hauls a lot into Canada, which saves on costs. I also have a couple of fishing boats, nothing fancy, and I'm looking to add a canoe to the list of things to do at the cabin this coming year. There are dozens of lakes up there where you can carry in a boat and fish undisturbed.
I look forward to getting to know the folks here and sharing my experiences (or lack thereof) and who knows perhaps even meeting a few of you down the road.
Glad to be here!
