Maple Plain gun nut

just checking in: an old fart / retired now, and this year returning to active shooting after health-related layoffs. I have new eyes (cataract surgery) and really looking forward to shooting some more. I used to be an NRA instructor in the 90s; I let that slide about ten years ago. Personal shooting interests include practical handgunning and .22LR marksmanship. I've been a summer camp 'marksmanship director' and, over the course of three summers, taught about 400 kids the basics of .22LR Marksmanship and oversaw the Archery and BB gun ranges as well.

Five years ago I shot about 25,000 rounds I built in 38/357 for reloading data tables for short-barreled revolvers--1.875" to 4" lengths. That data is going to be put together in final form this year, I think. My EDC is a S&W M&P 340, but recently I have started shooting a S&W NG 386 more as well. That gun--see the avatar--just returned from S&W after a hammer bob and DAO conversion.

I'm a life member out at the Minnetonka Sportsmen (3 mi. W. of Mound, on CR15) and I've been a member at TheHighRoad.org since August of 2003. I try to contribute to MSM commentary on firearms--look for my moniker, or a variation thereof, in any comments section. Generally, I try to get stuff into the NYTimes to tweak the East Coast Antigun crowd.

added on edit: I forgot to mention that I found this forum due to a post by wrench on THR. And--for you tacticalninja 32--I was NOT in the marines--so I changed the title of my opening post to 'Maple Plain gun nut.'

Welcome!

I'm a The High Road member also, although I was kicked off once while posting under influence of major pain meds.

Thanks for your contribution to the gunnery field.

(I lived/worked in Maple Plain 1999-2002. McGarry's was my second home, twice a day.)
