Greetings from Bloomington. I found this forum from a f=reference on GlockTalk. Glad I did. There are a few MN shooters on GT, but this will be the local connection to other shooters in the TC area that I wanted to find. I'm sure I'll be checking in often to see what's going on in the TC region. Cheers.

Thanks for the welcome message. I see by your avatar that you're a Ruger fan. So am I. A couple of rifles and eight or nine handguns. If I had to choose, I'd take my p90 over almost anything else. It's heavy, but it ALWAYS goes "bang" when I pull the trigger. I worked with a guy who had a HK or some other high buck 45. I said I had a P90 that worked every time with any ammo including reloads. He said, and I'll always remember this line, "If your gun doesn't fail with the same ammo that won't work with mine, yours is a piece of s%!t." Ummm, yeah. If yours fails and mine doesn't, it's obviously MY problem."

And my 10/22 always works no matter what. Heck, all my Rugers have been utterly reliable.

Anyway, nice to be on this forum.

Gary.

welcome, you may want to brush up on your Glock VS 1911 arguements, know the difference between a magazine and a clip and always remember who your instructor is...............especially watch out for the scoundrels who will try to Troll you into arguing with them. Most of the hard asses that like to haze people appear to have checked out or just slunk back itto the shadows. There are a lot of very knowlegeable people on here.

Hi, yukonjasper, and thanks for the welcome. I'm unlikely to enter into any Brand A v Brand B battles any time soon. I own a Harley, and been to enough sites to you either think HD is either the best thing invented since the Big Bang, or it's the technological equivalent of a toilet paper dispenser. Plus I'm married, so I've developed an aversion to entering into any "discussion", AKA "argument" that I have no hope of winning. I have Colt, S&W, Kel-Tec, Taurus, Glock, Dan Wesson, and a variety of Ruger handguns. I couldn't win an argument with MYSELF about the <BEST> pistol/revolver. But I'm glad all, or most, of the feud starting trolls have been banished, or left.

I'm not sure who my instructor was, or what that really means. As to clip v magazine, my stance on the issue is fluid. As long as the thing holding the cartridges gets them to the right place in a reliable manner, you can call it a bath mat for all I care.

The soapbox is officially stowed. Thanks to all the members who have made me feel at home in the forum. "Minnesota Nice" is real and a good bit of it resides here.

Gary.

Thank you for the welcome. "Not worth the time"... is right. Anybody who'll argue that his pistol is better than yours, or my bike is great and yours sucks, isn't worth the air it would take to argue. Their mind, or whatever, is made up, and nothing short of a hand grenade will change it. I've got better things to do, like ride my Sporster to the gun range and make some holes!!! Huh, I may have just made plans for next weekend.......

Yeah, I know, it's barely a Harley at all. Long story having to do with money and my wife giving up riding with me after I t-boned a Buick while doing 45-50. She saw me in the ER, and decided no more riding for her. So I bought a very slightly used '88 Sportster in Sept. of '88 with my insurance settlement. I bought another one in early '01, a new 1200. They're enough for me to get to work, etc. I rode the '01 to Sturgis in '07, about 1450 miles total. I do NOT recommend trying this unless you are quite sure you can get an ass transplant. I'm toying with the idea of something like a Road King. Not a full on touring bike, but it can get you about anywhere with some degree of comfort. We'll see how it goes. Wife doesn't mind me having one, she just won't go along. But now we're paying off student loans for two kids' degrees, so.....
