Newb saying HI!

Postby Ffejtech on Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:03 pm

Hey all, new to this forum, just thought I'd do an intro thread....
My name is Jeff, 44 yr old Male, I used and owned firearms growing up, came from a hunting family, enjoyed shooting but never the hunting or fishing side, I have not owned a gun as an adult, but recently have been going to the range with friends and shooting thier guns, and renting a few. Now I am bitten hard, I really like going shooting, basically just putting holes in paper, and making noise!
I am (im)patiently waiting for my PMP to come thru, did apply for one so just counting the days... I plan on starting with a .22 pistol to start with, cheap and cheap to shoot, gonna go with a Buckmark or a MKIII, we will see where I go from there on the aquiring of guns, I'm sure it's a slippery slope, soon to have many different ones!
Some of my other hobbies over the years have been radio control car racing, I have been racing competitively all over the midwest for 25 years :o , mostly 12th scale electric indoors in the winter, and some gas racing in the summer. I ride bicycles alot, restore old bikes, cruisers and muscle bikes, and will still hit the BMX track from time to time.
I ride skateboard alot, still can ride ramps some and pool type skating, but mostly do longboarding nowadays.
I started racing real cars last summer, doing Autocross, I am a big VW fan and have had 12 watercooled VW's over the years, my current ride is an 81 Scirocco.
I am machinist in real life, grinding to be exact, I do centerless and OD grinding, and some surface grinding, ironically some of the work I do is on gun parts, BIG parts for gov contracts, never know what they are for....
basically I joined this forum because it was a local group, was looking for info on places to go shoot, events, etc... I have been a member on many different forums over the years, usually tend to read alot, post little, hope I can add to the group here and learn some things!!! :D

Machinist, eh... hmmm, that might interest a lot of folks here.

Regarding VWs, well, I'm not convinced this new-fangled water cooling is a good idea. It's like this "auto-loading" pistol fad, Bah humbug. ;)

Yep, it will go the way of the Dodo, along with the "internet fad" and the "antibiotic fad" Those two are doomed too, who needs 'em.
