Unless you need to take rust off a car bumper, I wouldn't recommend lutefisk at all.

And when there are Lutherans about, lock up the good silverware...

Hey, hey, hey, hey,... :poundon: Some of us here resemble that remark.

Same way southern boys make the heat bearable. Beer. And lots of it.

The other way is not to hide from it but to seek it out and do what the cold gives you. Ice fishing. Sleds. Hockey. Bigger deer than you have ever seen. If all you do from the cold is hide, you won't have fun here. And the cold is really only cold when it gets to like twenty below here. Pretty soon you'll understand that 15 degreess just means it's time for another pair of shorts.

Things are different here in other ways. But that will come in another lesson.

There is a reason that we start cocktail hour at well, NOON sometimes.

You are going to love it here - there are lots of things to do - people to meet. MN is a really neat place coming from NY - it was not a horrible change - but in the winter - when it is say -20 it is COLD period - just deal with it. Get some warm clothes - learn to love Brandy Manhattans (or So.Co. Manhattans) and things get real easy.

Minnesota is a wonderful place - with some pretty outstanding folks - genuine people that actually look out for their neighbor. This is a great place to raise a family and enjoy the outdoors.

I wish you luck in your transition and well, the food here SUCKS - get used to it. Chicken and waffles is well, impossible to find. Waffle House (comforting as it is) does not exist. If you want fried Chicken - make it yourself. Italian is out of the question, good Chinese is well, a rare commodity also. We have good Vietnamese Food here and that is about it. Good Polish Food here, and some good Ukrainian grub too.

Welcome from Eden Prairie (that's the city directly to your south.) As a south Georgia (Ft. Benning/Columbus) native let me warn you this cold is nothing yet, get yourself some good winter stuff, if you need recommendations we can help.

If you haven't checked out Gunstop in Minnetonka do so it's got most everything you can need and the prices are pretty good.

To echo others Burnsville pistol range or Bills south are both pretty convenient to you for pistol and short range rifle and both feature advanced and self defense pistol courses (bills more than Bville.)

The BBQ and fried chicken here suck so get used to it. Try Lion's Tap in Eden Prairie if you're in the mood for a good burger.

Need recommendations/help with anything else just ask!

You're just not going to the right places. Try Fat Lorenzos (Lake Nokomis area, just north of the Crosstown on Cedar Ave) or Buca. I'm sure there's others out there, too, but none that I'm familiar with.

I'll vouch for Fat Lorenzo's, thats a close and frequent stop for us. The pizza is great, mysteriously filling considering its a pretty thin crust. None of that storebought crust crap either. I compare it to your mother's homeade bread (if she made good bread).

the gellato there isn't bad either.

when you walk in, don't forget to put your name on the seating list. its a unique place.
