New Guy with Questions

Postby Beretta96CT on Mon Apr 15, 2013 4:17 pm

Hi all,

New guy here with lots of questions. I ran into a guy at Oakdale Gun Club by name of "oldman"-something, who said I should try this website/Forum sometime. So here I am. I have an interest in loading 44RemMagnum and 7mmRemMagnum, mainly for deer hunting, but don't know who to ask to teach me something about reloading.

Any recommendations ?

Welcome aboard. As for who to ask about teaching you how to reload, I'm guessing you were referred to this site by OldmanFSCA. That would probably be a good place to start. I understand he got a one week timeout for an inappropriate post, so I wouldn't look for him until next Sunday or Monday. In the meantime, go buy one or more of the following books, and read the sections on reloading two or three times.

The ABC's of Reloading
Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading (9th Edition)
Lyman's Reloading Handbook (49th Edition)
Speer Reloading Manual (14th Ed)
Sierra's 5th Edition

Thanks for the Welcome.
I think I'm going to like it here on MN Gun Talk, if I don't get banned for my beliefs or mistakes.

So the old guy at the Oakdale Gun Club wearing camo green overalls and a Leupold hat who told me about this site and said something about "Oldman", turns out he is my neighbor across my cornfield. Said he was wondering when I would make the connection. I helped him install his outside wireless transmitters and for that he lets me use his wireless since all I had was dial up. I told I join mn gun talk and heard he got banned. He said only for a week but he was able to get in as a guest. Biggest problem was that he had no access to private messages for students to contact him this week. But he said his wife started chemo this week so he is busy.
He said he would teach me anything for free. That's unheard of today. Now I understand better why almost everyone likes him.
More later. Need to go feed the cows before the storm that's coming.
