Hello from Oakdale!

Postby Snofish on Tue Oct 22, 2013 6:43 pm

Hello Everyone,
I have been lurking around here for a while now and decided its time to sign up. I have enjoyed reading many posts from members with vast knowledge and a willingness to share with others. I have equally enjoyed reading posts from folks with a dry sense of humor...

Even though I took firearm safety through the DNR as a youth I am somewhat new to firearms, purchased my first pistol about 2 years ago.

That was the beginning...

Since then I received my PTC, bought another pistol, joined GOCRA and NRA, took a week off of work and attended several of the "meetings" at the last legislative session, bought a shotgun, and signed up for OGC wait list.

I also purchased and have READ 3 reloading manuals , without even owning or buying a press yet!

Looking forward to the group!

I have not shot any competitions yet.
I have, however, watched some videos that members have posted and it looks like a lot of fun! Something I could really get into.
Thursday nights are tough for me but I can work on scheduling changes.

Thanks for the invitation!

Welcome from Osceola Wisconsin - I moved here from Oakdale on Grange Ave.

When you are ready to learn how to reload safely, give me a PM.
Many members here have taken my training and have written excellent reviews of my style of training.
Find them and read them. Most are in Reviews Section. Some are scattered around in Reloading Section.

Ironically, I lived in Osceola myself!! - '00-'08!
I lived SW of the airport on a dead end dirt road (267th street). I hated having to move , I miss that area tremendously...

As stated earlier, I have been lurking around here for some time now and I am fully aware of your reviews... To be quite honest , Yourself and a handful of others are a significant reason for me joining the forum. :D

In my line of work, safety, attention to detail and clear conscious thinking are paramount. Reloading is no different. Therefore I am very interested in appropriate training from someone such as yourself prior to starting out.
I will be in contact with you in the near future.

Thanks OldmanFCSA!

Wow !!! Thanks for the kind words.

I try to make a difference here - sometimes it can be difficult, but we can only keep trying.

I guess I better polish off my loading benches to be ready for you and any others that want to learn to reload.
I've been re-organizing and cleaning my shop, but looking at my loading benches I'm just moving junk from one table to another.
Its hard throwing things away that took twenty years to accumulate.

What cartridges do you want to learn to reload? Be sure to bring the firearms along with to my classes.

Initially I want to start with 9mm and then .40, since that is what I have now.

I already have several hundred 9mm casings I have cleaned with SS media(thanks to your previous posts) and hand primed using a Lee autoprime hand primer (thanks to Sam's previous posts).

I purchased 2 lbs of unique when I went to Shooters Roundup at Ahlmans in August. Also 1k 9mm projectiles are on the way and should arrive very soon...

Please note that this is a joint effort with my brother, who is also new to reloading. He acquired an RCBS jr2 press from his first sergeant . That is the press we will be starting out and learning with prior to me getting my own.

Based on pictures of your shop in prior posts , it appears you would have adequate room for both of us at once? Or should I ask if you have adequate patients for both of us? :o
