Hello

Postby Randygmn on Sat Dec 21, 2013 3:13 am

Just a friendly hello to the MNGUNTALK forum. I'm new to Minnesota. After living for 25 years in NYC,I am glad to be joining a free, American state.

A bit about myself; I'm late forties, married with a 12 year old daughter. I'm here alone (actually with my in laws) while I'm attempting to open a new business in downtown Minneapolis. My wife and daughter are finishing out the school year in NYC, sigh.

I bought my first handgun in 1994 (Beretta 85F) which is still my EDC. I'm also at Beretta forum under the same name, btw. It took 1 year for me to obtain my gun permit in NYC in 94. I can only imagine what the process is like now. This place was a totally different story. I got my drivers license on the morning of October 28. That afternoon I took my carry class. The following morning I applied for my PTC downtown in Hennepin county. 8 days later the permit came in the mail. Like I said, America!!!!

Essentially, I feel like a kid in a candy store. I've been going to Bills in robinsdale, weekly. Going to try the new range in Rogers tmrw. I've been to a few gun shows already. Hastings was kind of lame (sorry if I offend anyone) and the one in St. Paul (river center) last weekend, which was much better. Almost bought my first modern rifle (Tavor). I'll be getting one after the holidays.

Anyway, I've done my homework here at this sight prior to registering. I believe I've read every thread in the general, handgun, Long gun and news sections. I hope you don't mind a new, inquisitive member. I do have lots of questions, and I'm hoping that the more knowledgable members won't mind helping me out a long the way.

In the near future, along with buying the Tavor, I'm interested in learning about reloading. I know some of you are accomplished in that. You know who you are. Unfortunately for you, I do too  .

Glad to be here!!!!

Welcome from Edina. I have been shooting since I was four yrs old (now 55). I am a friend of OldmanFCSA and took his reloading classes when I began reloading. You will not find a better nor more knowledgeable instructor.

I shoot regularly and reload almost daily. If I can ever offer advice or assistance, feel free to contact me. If you are serious about getting into reloading, PLEASE get a minimum of two manuals, and read them from cover to cover. After that, contact Oldman, you will be very happy you did.

Welcome aboard,
