Hi,my name is Cody. Currently a student and 21 years of old. I am often over at ar15.com and am looking to get in to competition shooting such as 3 gun and USPSA. No idea where to start but figured a local forum can give me some info on local matches and what not. Carry a Glock 19 daily.

3gun matches in MN are pretty much all put on by the MN 3Gun Group. The calendar is on their website: http://www.mn3gungroup.org/?page_id=7
There is a skills builder this weekend on Saturday that I believe is already full, but it doesn't mean you cant come out and shoot the 3gun match on Sunday!

Being in Lakeville, Pine Island and Faribault are probably the closest IPSC /IDPA clubs near you. In Winter, there are Mike's "IPSC" matches at the Burnsville Pistol Range but that season just finished.
Faribault Rifle & Pistol Club starts IPSC on Tuesday, May 13 and IDPA on Wednesday, May 21. Those are weekly matches until August / September.
Pine Island has a new shooter orientation on Sunday April 27. I highly recommend you attend it for shooters new to the Action Shooting sports. Its free too!

We have a new shooter orientation for uspsa this Sunday at Pine Island. It's 10am to 1pm.
We will have several simple courses of fire you can shoot, example rigs, and what not. I will be there and would be more than happy to talk to you about what you need for 3-gun.
If you are interested this is the BEST place to start IMHO.

Unfortunately I am busy on Sunday so I will be unable to make it even though I would love to. I was told that Oakdale will be having an orientation on the 8th so I was going to try and make it to that one. Thanks
