New baby girl coming

Postby ScatterGun4015 on Fri Feb 19, 2010 7:26 pm

So Ladies, I have to ask you a question. My wife is pregnant with our first child and we just found out at the beginning of the week that it is going to be a girl. All these thoughts have popped into my mind about teaching my little girl how to shoot. My question for you fine women is; How old does she have to be before I buy her her first pink 10/22? I was planning on picking it up now and hanging onto it until she is old enough to shoot........but my wife says that I am a lunatic. So any thoughts would be help much

Thanks

David

You'll pay less for it today than you will in 6 or 7 years. You might even be able to find an all metal one, which you won't in 5 years!

Congrats

PS Boyd stocks have some nice Pink laminate stocks for the 10/22 for about $60.

Hey, congratulations on your new baby girl :woohoo:

I think it's so great you're thinking of her shooting future!

My .02: each child pretty much matures at different levels, so it will be up to her!
I've seen 4 yr olds be very mature on the range, but also 10 yr olds act like they're 2!!
One little piece of advice: the first few times you bring her shooting, leave your guns at home (unless you think she might want to try them) I've seen so many kids lose interest while waiting for Mom or Dad to finish shooting. Just let it be "her time" and enjoy seeing the sport of shooting through a child's eye-there's nothing more precious.

I'd buy her that pink .22 now, chances are she'll cherish it her entire life :D

Congrats. It is never too soon to start their collection, just remeber it does not stop with the .22 you will need at least a 2nd of everything in your safe in youth model and then a 3rd in adult or you will never get to shoot it again...

Congrats Mr and Mrs Scattergun!

You are probably a lunatic but that has never stopped me from doing what I want.
Personally, I have never been a fan of pink guns for girls because to me they look like toys. Your opinion may vary and if it does, go ahead and buy it now.
I have a Colt Python and you don't so what do I care...

Congrats! Our first is just about to turn one in a couple days!

Congrats! Our little guy is almost one too. Someday when he is mature enough, I will have him to the range with the M&P 15-22.
Something tells me if he is anything like I was as a kid....it will be quite a while. :( :)

I've got two girls with a third on the way, too. Congratulations! My 7 and 5yo haven't shown any interest yet. I think these ones look super cool, though.

I just have to convince my wife that they're a good idea. Three girls, three rifles?
