Legal Name Changes and PTC

Postby Tickledpink on Mon Jan 02, 2012 11:56 am

I am not sure if this is the right room or not..... I am sure a few of you already know, but I made an honest man out of Strad this summer. My last name changed and I have been slacking on changing my legal name on my permit. I have a few questions....

1. Can I do a name change by mail or does everything need to be done down town?
2. Am I legal to be carrying? I don't carry too often outside of the house but I want to make sure that I am doing things properly.

as I understand it, pretty much the same as a change of address.

Take the information in and pay the $10 to the man and wait for the new permit.

I believe you need to bring along a of your marriage certificate. i also think it was supossed to be done within 30 days of your name change the same as if you changed your address.

I was able to get this done by mail, I had to fill out the appropriate forms, check for $10 and I had to send them my permit. It took about 30 days.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know you could do that by mail!

I slacked on my address change but finally called the law enforcement center in my previous county. They had me send in a letter stating my address change and they said that was all I had to do. They told me the next time I'm in my old county to stop in and pay the $10 to issue a new card but that my current card is still valid. Doesn't quite make sense but that's what I did today. Some day when I'm in my old county during business hours I'll get my new card.

The state wants to know where you live.

They don't care if your card is current.
