Lake Harriett Rose Gardens

Postby Tickledpink on Mon Dec 27, 2010 9:16 pm

I am not really sure if this should be posted here or somewhere else.

As you have probably already read...Strad and I will be walking the aisle in the near future. I am starting to scout out sites for the ceremony.
I am hoping that someone here can help out a bit.

I am looking at the Rose Gardens at Lake Harriett but I don't want random stupid people walking through my wedding. If I am going to plop down $500+ I want to make sure that the space is blocked off. If someone one can help me out and let me know I would greatly appreciate it!

If it's not blocked off I might need to start looking for armed guards. :)

Look at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. http://www.arboretum.umn.edu/weddingsmeetings.aspx I know they have weddings there. What other locations are you looking at? Do you have a area you want to stay around? You can also Google outdoor wedding venues in Minnesota. Here is one I found. http://www.mnweddingminister.com/OtherSites.html Depending on your finances if you need a wedding planner I can give the contact info of the one we use.
Armed guards you might be able to find a few around here maybe.

Or the Como Park Conservatory, in St. Paul.

My wife and I got married at Arneson Acres in edina. Gorgeous flower gardens, a building if the weather turns bad.

Here's a nice location: http://www.threeriversparks.org/parks/s ... -hall.aspx
Silverwood Park in St. Anthony Village (near New Brighton).

If you're looking for a Japanese Garden, I'd second the motion that you look at the Como Conservatory. It beats the "Peace Garden" at Harriet.

When are you guys getting married? Some places are much nicer at certain times of year.

Also, as you get away from the metro, you'll get more mosquitoes in summer. I know Strad is all cuddly and loveable, but you probably don't want to share him with 10,000 bloodsuckers  .

pm me I'm a wedding photographer.

Harriet will have lots of distractions.

Como is $700 for 90 minutes after public hours.

Try Downtown sculpture garden...one of the four "Gardens" is completely cordoned off and the conservatory next door is the rain backup.

I could send you a pdf of a wedding I shot there last year.

I attended a wedding here several years ago. It was a nice wedding & reception and I didn't hear any complaints.

Thanks all for the comments, we did reserve the Rose Gardens. Now just for the reception site, that is proving to be slightly more difficult.

I think the family count is some where between 80-90. I am looking at resturants downtown.

Believe me....the Gopher has already been brought up (multiple times)
