How is the recoil on a gun/ bullet like that? Does it kick you in the face, or is the gun sturdy enough to absorb it?

recoil is stout enough you will want to suck into the rifle and hold it tight like a passionate kiss with a new lover.

Otherwise, they aren't bad. Loosen up and it will be brutal to you.

The only .50 I've shot weighed 40lbs. It didn't kick any more than a .308 bolt gun.

Recoil is not bad at all - my daughter shot it extensively when she was 13.

I would not have offerred if I had know it would hurt someone.
That kind of publicity is not needed.

Thank you everyone for getting this topic back on-track.

I don't think they are bad. I'd class it as a .30-06 or else a slug gun. But nothing to be afraid of. The muzzle brakes on these things are incredibly efficient in what they are designed to do.

But you still need to suck this in to control recoil.

farmerj,

I partially dis-agree with you - recoil is similar to a 243WIN or a 20 gage - but you are correct that gripping the gun tightly against shoulder helps to reduce the shock to the shoulder. I will explain this extensively with every shooter prior to firing a live round.

When I shot it indoors the recoil wasn't as bad as the shock wave when others where shooting it.
I'm always game to shoot one anytime and I even have some empty 1lb propane canisters.

Correct it was made to the cooment earlier that if someone had a private place to shoot. My error. I still don't know who will take my empty cylinders.

As far as ranges go--I'm a member of a range that is fifty friendly. Unfortunately, the longest range is 200 yards.

And it's in Bird Island.

Great offer, btw. I have a buddy with a .50, it's a hoot to shoot. I'm kinda jonesin' for one...and the AR50 is on the list.

I could do a personal shoot with you when you have the time and a location is available.

Do you have a SAFE place to shoot the propane tanks?

If so, an additional offer could be made utilizing these targets.

Bill or I will take your empties - I have a way to partial fill them for a bigger BANG.

We STILL need a SAFE place to shoot !!!

Winter is coming and shooting on snow is preffered by most landowners.
