Registering an NFA weapon [inc Suppressors] via trust

I haven't been able to pull together cash for the two NFA items I want, a SBR and suppressor for a .300 blk build. I've been collecting components but can't buy the NFA items for a few more months. So, let's assume that 41P doesn't go our way and CLEO sign off is required. Does anyone know if Mpls. is NFA friendly or will I be screwed and not able to get a signature? Has anyone here had Mpls. CLEO sign off ok? Also, is the only change here that a trust can't bypass CLEO sign off or are there other changes? I'm trying to figure out if I should open a trust this last week of the year and submit paperwork for a SBR before the potential change in Jan.

IIRC, you have the option of going to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office for NFA sign-off. I believe Sheriff Stanek has signed off on those in the past, and likely will continue to sign off on them.

There are a number of organizations ready to file lawsuits if they enact 41P. My guess is that it will be held up in the courts, and won't go into effect for quite awhile, if ever. If it ever does go into effect, there is bound to be someone on ATF's list of authorized CLEO signors that will sign for you. The more that refuse, the better the argument for going back and getting shall-sign legislation passed!!

Even if the headache of CLEO signature, photographs and fingerprints are added to trusts, they are still the best way to own NFA items. Provided you have a well-worded NFA specific trust created. It's the only way that you can reasonably share NFA weapons with other people without a transfer (and a felony) taking place.

If anyone experiences a CLEO that wont sign a BATFE form 1 or form 4, let someone at the Gun Owners Caucus (http://www.gunowners.mn/) know and we can try to get that fixed for you

Has anyone had him sign off on a can yet? IIRC, he was NOT a fan of the peasants having hearing protection.
