SilencerCo Hybrid?

SilencerCo Hybrid?

Anybody tried it yet? Sounds like a nice versatile option but I wonder if larger diameter is an issue for smaller calibers.

I plan to buy one in the next couple of months. Figure I can let friends use it. Need to be able to adapt it to the saker brakes and flash hiders though.

SilencerCo Hybrid?

Looks like additional caps are $85 and direct thread mounts are $129, so about $200-220 per setup.

Wonder if the smaller hole diameter caps are really needed?

Nothing specific about Pistons. Does it mean it takes same ones as Osprey and Octane?

The hybrid is setup to work with the ASR mount. For my sakers mounts I need the MAAD mounts. Gonna be expensive to adapt it but that's something that can be procured over time. I want to beat the changes to NFA trust submittal requirements.

You wouldn't need the different size end caps, it'll be a little louder but should still be hearing safe. NFAREVIEW on youtube did a review and I believe he used only the largest end cap. Pretty awesome to see a suppressed 45-70 levergun.

I assume the pistons are all the same between the Osprey/Octane and the hybrid.

They were just released beginning of last month, so you probably won't get many reports from the 'wild' for a few more months.

My understanding is they take Octane/Osprey pistons and Omega front caps. Those who are already vested in the SiCo systems certainly would appreciate a cost savings.

At one point I was absolutely sold on it - but now that I'm closer to purchasing I find myself wondering if it makes sense:
-Does not make .338 Lapua hearing safe
-Diameter is too large to do any sort of co-witnessing with pistol(even with tall sights)
-not user serviceable - baffle stack does not come out(no good with .22 or lead bullets)

So - aside from being able to adapt to .45-70 and .458 SOCOM - I think I am better served by my pistol and rifle cans and possibly get a big honk'en .338 can which will hopefully work well on sub-calibers. Obviously those in the big(ger) bore camp have limited options and the Hybrid is probably an excellent solution.

Are there any user serviceable .338 Lapua cans?

With respect to cleaning the can, you just need to shoot some .338 Lapua through it. Another reason to buy a .338 if you don't have one.
