Searching the internet for topics related to the use of a suppressor/moderator on a direct-impingment AR-15 or similar rifle, it seems there's no shortage of ingenious solutions. I'm relatively new to this whole black rifle thing, but this is really, REALLY confusing. Why do we need all of this stuff when a simple adjustable gas block will tame the over-gassed gas system? Could it possibly be that simple?
Buffers
Buffer springs
Bolt Carriers
Charging handles
There are probably other parts designed for use with a suppressor, but they all assume the rifle is over-gassed. Correct??? So, if I fix the gas system, doesn't that also negate the need for all this other stuff?
This is what I've done, by the way... left everything alone except for mounting an adjustable gas block, and the rifle seems to function just fine. Am I missing something obvious?
