Who has a suppressor on a 338 LM or similar? My current suppressor (Sandman-s) just isn’t quiet enough for 308. Considering a sandman-l but have found some suppressor’s for 338LM will work on 308. Couple hundred bucks more for a 338 can from a sandman-l. Are the 338 suppressor’s that good on the 338? Just doing my research to spend my money wisely. Thanks.

I have two separate units for my 338LM, but I prefer* the Elite Iron Sierra 338 suppressor over the AAC Titan .338LM suppressor.....
I have no knowledge regarding the Sandman stuff.
I utilize the SilencerCo Saker 762 ASR for all my .308's.......................

*This is as I compare size, weight, noise, and recoil........

I have all the sandman's. I honestly haven't shot my S much. My L on a 300 win mag is pretty darn quiet. I'd get anther Sandman before getting a different brand 338 suppressor. I think dead air is a solid brand. I'd consider the K and S more of a hunting/tactical type can and not super quiet if that's what you are looking for. I would have to think the S is still hearing safe on a bolt gun. If you are shooting them on a semi auto pretty much everything is going to be loud do the all the noise from the action and gas system. I still wear hearing protection with all my supersonic semiautos when suppressed.

Maybe you should try a muzzle brake first.......................

I have a muzzle brake that came with the savage FCP. Works fairly well.

Am considering this as well. Heck of allot cheaper too. I think Deadair is producing some great suppressors. My S works awesome on my 300BO with subs. Have to do some trimming on the hand guard so I can try it on my Grendel. Kind of wished I went with the L in the first place but didn't have the bucks at the time.

Legal provided it has been registered as a silencer. I know at least one company sells them this way. I've thought about trying it since it doesn't cost me anything.

How does it not cost? Would it not be a 200 tax stamp?

I know nothing about suppressors. Is it a $200 stamp for every suppressor you get or do you just have to have ome stamp to buy multiple suppressors?

So let's say a guy were to make an adapter so he could use an oil filter like Old Man FCSA says.

Would you have to register the oil filter or the adapter? If you had to register the filter, would that mean you could never change it?

I have no intention trying this, I'm just curious.

I thought the whole Dead Air no longer selling whips for their Ghost suppressor was a direct result of the ATF ruling it's illegal for individuals(non-manufacturers) to own and/or use replacement parts for a suppressor.

Has the ATF ruled the oil filter isn't a replacement part?
