I think dead air is a solid brand. I'd consider the K and S more of a hunting/tactical type can and not super quiet if that's what you are looking for. I would have to think the S is still hearing safe on a bolt gun. If you are shooting them on a semi auto pretty much everything is going to be loud do the all the noise from the action and gas system. I still wear hearing protection with all my supersonic semiautos when suppressed.

Not legal but I've seen it done.
Replace filter after low mileage.
Just kidding.

Legal provided it has been registered as a silencer. I know at least one company sells them this way. I've thought about trying it since it doesn't cost me anything.

Would you have to register the oil filter or the adapter? If you had to register the filter, would that mean you could never change it?
I have no intention trying this, I'm just curious.

I thought the whole Dead Air no longer selling whips for their Ghost suppressor was a direct result of the ATF ruling it's illegal for individuals(non-manufacturers) to own and/or use replacement parts for a suppressor.
Has the ATF ruled the oil filter isn't a replacement part?
