SKS furniture

Postby Scratch on Thu Feb 17, 2011 5:37 pm

I've been thinking about getting some new furniture for my SKS. I like the look of something like this:

and am wondering if anyone has any input on the Tapco line of stuff or if they have any other looks they've seen.

I don't like the Dragonov look or the Strikeforce look. I guess you could say I have AR envy...

Any ideas on who to buy from?

For my two cents, save any cash you're planning on putting in to the SKS, and save it for an AR - cheap kits abound!

The SKS will never be light, or accurate, or lots of things a modern carbine will be... but what is is, when left in an unadulterated state, is the cheapest most reliable weapon ever. Clean it once every few thousand rounds, keep it dry, and your great grandchildren will still be shooting it.

Do it. Mine is dressed like that sans foregrip/scope. Maybe 80 bucks. Ammo is cheap and
is a riot to plink with.

I put the Tapco set on my sks....... Looks bad ass! I can tell you that it seems to gain 10 pounds. The fit and feel are ok, went together well and has a solid feel to it. Not a bad investment.

AR stocks on non AR type rifles make me want to go slit my wrists. I think the collapsible stocks on AR's are FUGLY, It's excusable on the AR, because you have to work around the buffer tube. Why anyone would want to emulate this look is beyond me. ;)

An SKS will never be a silk purse.

Dressing it up will not make it lighter, shoot better, or be more ergonomic than it's original configuration.

I'd still say go for it if you only care about the looks. It looks scarier with all the after-market crap, and I love guns that scare sheeple.

Plastic stock is lighter than a wood one.

Cool. The "tricked out" one I held weighed just as much as any of mine with the wood stocks.

I already have that exact stock, I'm sick of the look. I've actually decided to go bullpup with it now instead of the Tapco.

Don't hate me...
