Saiga now makes a rifle in 5.45x39mm. Perhaps you could find someone local that will convert one for you. If I was to have it done, I'd just do the basic pistol grip/trigger group conversion and leave the gas tube and handguard stock. Even though it doesn't look as cool as the original AK design, I think it's a better ergonomic fit.

In Sunday's paper (2/20), the AK folder is $439 with 4 mags and a cleaning kit. The stocked version is 399 with 2 mags. I know the WASRs aren't top quality, but those are pretty good prices from what I've seen. Sure, you mostly get what you pay for, but I don't think you buy a dirt cheap AK for accuracy, it's for putting lead down range. As long as it shoots, and the welded pieces in the mag well should the feed issues. 2 friends have these and they have had no problems. A solid buy, if you take it for what it's worth.

Take care.

I bought a underfolder wasr from BP Fleet Farm about 3 weeks ago and I'm going to shoot it tomorrow.

I'd highly advise to handle their entire inventory before buying one. I looked at about 6 of them from the case and all had VERY wobbily magazines and some had sights that were so canted that it was just ridiculous. Finally I asked if there were any more in back and the last one had a fairly centered sight and the magazines (steel and plastic) fit snug without wobble.
