Fleet Farm Ad

Any know anything about the 7.62 x 39 for $434.99 on sale. I'm not sure of the brand and have not looked at it yet. Just checking it with the knowledgeable folks on this site.

Probably a Century Arms WASR-10. I've heard bad things about Century customer service.

P.S. 7.62x39 is a cartridge, not a rifle.

P.P.S. Links help people know what you're talking about: http://www.fleetfarm.com/company/weekly ... 808&rez=hi

P.P.P.S. I'm here to help!

Thank you for the help. I did know it was the cartridge. I should have been a little bit more clearer.

I'm guessing that they call it a "7.62 x 39" because they don't want to come out and say that they sell AKs.

That's silly. Anyone looking at the ad can clearly see it's a FULLY AUTOMATIC MACHINE GUN. At least it doesn't have a shoulder thing that goes up.

It is not an AK, it is a sport utility rifle based on the Kalashnikov design. ;)

AK or not, it doesn't matter. Does it use a-salt-clip? :ugeek:

Wasrs are some of the safer Century products to buy. Just inspect the rifle they offer you, test for mag fit, check to see if the sights are canted, and make sure there aren't any hard catches when you work the bolt back and forth by hand.

All good?

All good.

It's not like the AK-74 clones they make where some were shipped with 1 in 14 twist, non chrome lined barrels that were probably .22 LR rifle barrels that had seen a chamber ream.

And remember, they warranty the gun from the date of shipment to the dealer, so most are out of warranty before you get them, so make sure you either buy them from a source that will warranty them, or inspect the precise rifle you purchase before taking it home.

Ive had two, still have one, both went bang every time, both were NOT london Best or Pre War Winchester super grades, but they did what they needed to do.

I have had my eye on one of the folding stock guns for a while or find the fixed stock a new side folder for a truck gun. My M1 carbine I sold had that position and like an absolute EFFING idiot I let someone talk me out of it. If I could find a shooter M1 carbine I would skip the AK on the basis of less threatening to an LEO, but still....

Century Arms WASR-10... Had myself convinced I needed one of them, until I went to hold it... Took 3 seconds to decide it was a cheesy feeling pile of crap... Saved a few more bucks and bought an AR instead...

I've got a couple of these from a few years back when the prices were a little cheaper. As an entry level AK, they are fine. The furniture on both took multiple coats of tru oil very well. To change one up a bit, I added a decent brake as well as a plastic stock and forearm. I've got a side mounted low power scope for one too. Again, they don't exude high quality, but they aren't the complete junk some people make them out to be either. Overall, they were cheap to buy and accessorize, mine turned out looking great, they helped me learn a lot about AKs so that if I'm ever ready to buy an expensive one I'll have a much better idea what I'm doing (including 922 compliance legal stuff), and most importantly, they are fun for me and my friends to shoot at the range.

Yep they are but mine has worked flawlessly. Not the most accurate thing on the planet but when your using it like this all that counts is functioning:
