There is no "unfortunately" involved here - laws must not be made to account for "the idiots", as they will be ineffective and unduly restrict those of us who aren't...

I'm not entirely sure what line of thinking you are trying to promote... previously it seemed like you were advocating a limitation on magazine capacity in hunting rifles due to the "idiot factor." The problem with idiots is they are often also lack self awareness and don't bother reading/following the regs in the first place. Laws of the sort tend to simply inconvenience the law-abiding, a better solution to avoiding the 30 round spray and pray hunters is to find yourself a chunk of private land to hunt, otherwise beggers can't really be choosers (I occasionally hunt public land and sympathize, hearing a 12 gauge slug fired over a nearby hill whizzing over your head is a ******* feeling).

For me the appeal of lower capacity magazines in a hunting rifle is weight and profile... 30 rounds of 55 grain 5.56/.223 is a full pound that you most likely won't need at one time, why carry it on your rifle? As a previous poster also stated, prone a 30 round magazine is a liability sticking out of your rifle... But again both are really personal/ergonomic choices that may not impact all hunters, don't know if I need the law making such decisions for me though.

The cheap Thermold / Master Molder 20 round AR magazines you can pick up for $3-4 are about the lowest profile/highest capacity magazine I've found for an AR (compared to the C-products curved/straight body, PMag and Colt 20 rounders) and work surprisingly well from the bench or prone in the field with a pack rest or bipod.

I guess I wasn't really advocating for said idiots. I was just helping whomever asked about the law, try and see where I thought the law makers were coming from. I wasn't trying to stir anyone up here. I also agree that laws need not be made to account for the idiots but we do.
