Wonder what I could whip up in a mill? :hmm:

If you did it a day later, you could shoot your new gun AND USPSA
private or small grou permit classes available

If I wasn't tied up with family obligations, yes, I could. Besides........ I have a new toy NOW. Why would I wait till tomorrow, when I can shoot it today?

I yield to your superior logic.Besides, you wouldn't have time to shoot before USPSA with setup anyway.

Well, the grin has not subsided.

It was a great range trip, with three generations of military rifles......... From bottom to top..... 1884 Springfield Trapdoor .45-70 govt., mosin Nagant 91-30, and the rifle of the hour pictured on top.

Image

THe rifle came with two 5 round AK mags, and one 30 rounder. The wo 5 round were all but useless. Not only are the ridiculously low cap, they gave me grief when trying to seat them. Once seated, they were fine. The 30 rounder however was fine throughout. Seated easily, worked great.

Only shot 100 rounds through it tonight, but not one hiccup of any kind with any of the magazines. A hoot to shoot I tell you! manageable recoil, easy target acquisition and accurate enough for social situations. At 25 yds groups were all but touching. 100 yards, groups opened up to a few inches, but usable.

Trigger was smoother than expected for an SKS, and the reset was short and crisp. Made mag dumps a hoot. Very comfortable to shoulder, and easy to shoot for a decently long period of time.

The best part? The fireballs. This thing produced balls of flame at the muzzle that would give most M-44s a run for their money. Very impressive!

Cant wait until Saturday when I take it out again.

I know it's sitting next to a 91/30 which is as long as a fishing pole, but that SKS looks really short for some reason...? Is it the angle or what? The first picture looks normal, but this one just looks weird... Does anybody else think so?

Partly because of the angle (close shots with really wide angle lenses....... cell phones..... make for unflattering distortion), but also because the barrel is only 16".

It's a very short barreled rifle.
