What do you mean? Section 922 Paragraph R applies to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation as listed under Section 925 which are not made for sporting purposes.

I see. I read the last statement and I was confused.

There are lot more foreign parts in most Chinese models, because many were pre-ban models or imported as sporting rifles somehow. I have a Norinco and most of the Chinese stuff is out so I can use regular Bulgarian mags. I do keep some US plastic mags in case I want to sell it and restore it back to its original look.

As for the gas piston, it really depends on who made it. Most are held by rivet and some have pins you can punch out, but some may be fixed. You have to drill that out and the piston simply screws out. I have not personally done it, but I helped someone work on one and at the time I thought it wasn't worth the hassle of replacing to meet compliance as it was riveted in place. Replacing the entire assembly is probably easier.

I replaced the piston on one of my builds. I thought it was fairly easy. Reomving the rivet I thought was easy... drill it out and punch it out. make note of how many threads are visible on the old one, or take a measurement to the face of the piston. Screw in the new piston and carefully drill the new hole. I used a nail for the rivet. Smashed it with a hammer and ground it flush. Looks perfect. There'll be a slight wobble to it. I found a YouTube video on the procedure helpful.

I think they all have a little wobble in them, not sure why, but every one I've seen had a little.

Hahaha I'm always amazed at how different each one can be and all still work the same!
