Mosin "Bubba" build off

I an fine with a spending limit. I plan on using scrap metal that I have laying around to mill a gas block rail type system to mount the laser to. And make a scope mount for a $20 scope I have in the closet. I might spend some money on modifying a telescoping ar buttstock into a folding stock for the FRANKENMOSIN. I am going all out on this.

hmmmm.... folding stock on a mosin. i got some old door hinges around if you want them

I'd like to say win/lose it's all how you play the game but we all know it's win/lose who can polish a better turd. Either way it sounds like it'll be a blast and fun(ny) as hell.

In the end we will see who can polish a turd better.

If one wants to compile a panel of judges I would volunteer as such.

I would think scoring should include the following criteria

1) Uniqueness, this is about thinking outside the box afterall
2) Looks, better fit and finish to the work should get some credit
3) Accuracy, sure this might be somewhat luck of the draw but it is still a rifle (maybe) and "only accurate rifles are interesting" per Whelen. 1 fouling shot followed by 3 shot group at 100 yards with the same cheap mil surp ammo and the same shooter.
4) Others?

In the end I think it will have to be a subjective decision by the judges (ala, reality TV style).

I think that we should also include a voting period for forum members after the competition and pictures are posted in a polling thread. Then we give this a weighted score and the judges a weighted score. Say something like poll: 25% judges: 75% or whatever we decide on

suggestion/thought: should we set a dollar limit? i mean, one of the overriding themes is to do this as rediculous/cheap as possible. i don't think Strad has even broke $100 yet

Ceiling of $200 optics included? i mean, the stock rifle is $80 to $100....


remember, if you're making or modifying it yourself, scrap heaps and the Axman are your friend.
