I have built a sandbagged sniper nest on the roof of my compound with a tripod-mounted .50 BMG and night-vision goggles. I am not worried about over-penetration as I do not like any of my neighbors. The other Patriots and I sleep in shifts(in full combat gear) so we will never be surprised by the lawless bands of marauding Black-Ops mercenaries that have become so common in post-Mark Dayton MN these days.

One cannot be too prepared.....

That measley little .223 will go through pretty much ALL civiliam body armor. The .45 will be stopped by ALL civilian body armor.

What the **** are you talking about?

I"m talking about the zombie apocalypse! lol

Maybe when guns are required to be registered and then confiscated.

I recently struggled with the same question. A search will find my thread. I ended up with an AR10. I still love the M1A but I decided the AR was best for me. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Love how everyone here decided you need a shotgun instead. I say get an AR10 AND an M1A.

I wish I had the money for both! Bad economy and all!

I think they are both more accurate than the vast majority of people and ammo.

This rifle debate is at least four times less informative, and makes us look bad thrice as much as the same thread did several weeks ago.

If I was th OP I would search up scott noteah's thread and read that. Same exact question, without the applied caution (which some of us call paranoia).

It's only paranoia if its not true. And some of you numbnuts do look thrice as bad as any gun forum i've been to previously. Maybe its just a northern thing.

Do your own research Google will answer any questions you have. When you post on a board about patriots, zombie apocalypse, bad guys wearing body armor. you sound uninformed. Racking the slide on a shotgun will send 99.9% of bad guys running for the hills. Get a Mossberg or Remington 870 cheap but dependable. Situational awareness will also go a long way, neighbors that look out for each other is a huge deterrent also.

This was not a personal attack.

Good Luck
