Plum Crazy Lowers

Postby Stradawhovious on Wed Feb 08, 2012 3:10 pm

I have seen these, and at the price point it might just be worth grabbing one to build a beater M4gery.

The complete lower is around $120, that includes a 6 opsition stock, and is ready to mate to an upper. The other side to this coin is that they are COMPLETLY composite. Lower, FCG, everything (except the tube and springs of course). The third side of the coin is that there is alifetime warranty.

I'd like to hear from folks that have some experience with these. Might be fun to try to build a 5lb or less AR. :)

Also... if you have some input, please back it up with something. "They are ****" or "They kick ass" is not what I'm looking for. I'm more interested in a "They are **** becuase......" or "They kick ass becuase....."
Thanks!

Check out the AR15 forum over on Predatormasters.com. A lot of guys building lightweight hunting rigs have been using them.

Strad, I've got one if you want to swing by and see it. Hell you can even throw an upper (or one of mine) on it and try it out.

It's an AR lower :D

I have only shot one a for a couple hunred rounds. My dad has one that I assembled an upper for him to put in it. The trigger is a lot nicer than the stock AR triggers (not really saying much) It's all plastic, even down tho the detents and take-down pins are plastic. It's light. My dad and I have put 800ish rounds through his without a hiccup. The big thing is the lifetime warranty. I don't think any other manufacturers do that?

Like I said, you are welcome to come fondle it if you'd like. The lower too..... :?

I was reading about these on the ar15 forums today and the people who are running them seem to be fairly pleased with them, if you get one I'd be interested to hear your feedback as well

I have one that I used with a Tactical Solutions 22lr upper...turned that into a single shot(wouldn't re-cock the hammer). There is supposed to be a "blowback" hammer for use with a 22lr upper, but I haven't found one yet (backordered). It is nice and light, haven't tried it with any other uppers as of yet...

I have sold a few of them. The fit and finish is as good as or better than the low priced forged lowers. They seem to work just fine for the price, if you don't mind the fact that they are plastic. The lower really has no stress on it, I would Imagine one made from Play-Doh would work for a while.

I don't ever imagine a scenario where I would buy one of these. You can't just substitute materials and expect any kind of quality. AR lowers are designed around a specific material. The reason why Glock and other polymer pistol work is because they were designed to be made with polymer. I would not trust one of these things with anything bigger that a .22 upper.

I think there is a nice picture floating around on ar15.com of one of these lowers cracked in half.

Save up the money and get something proven and reliable.
