I watched a video on recrowning a barrel via the Brownell's website and to finish off the above process above they used a slotted/round head machine screw of the appropriate head diamater and some cutting/polishing compound chucked up in a drill to slightly recess and finish the crown. Getting the end of the barrel flat & square at a perfect 90 degree angle is probably the biggest challenge/risk involved in the above process, if you could work up some sort of temporary jig using scrap wood and PBR cans to hold the barrel and the grinder in relation to one another while you square off the freshly cut end you could probably end up with a completely respectable cut and crown job for your time investment. Lil cold blue or Krylon to finish... BAM.
