The only sight I liked was the $100 Rock Solid mount that I couldn't justify spending that on a $79 Fleet Farm special.
As for an AK sight rail not working... ha well look at my receiver real close and tell me it worked horribly before this mount

It really depends upon how your gun is set up! It used to have a polish underfolder stock on it as well but it was uncomfortable and actually didn't feel hot with no padding on it.
I got the cheapest weaver rail kit I could for mine $8 off Amazon for 3 pieces.
I took off the rear sight of the gun.
I cut the front "hump" off the sight or buldge.
I used a piece of 1/4" flat stock in place of the flip up site and plug welded it in the center replacing the site(fit perfectly in the machined out part nice and tight).
I cut it off 1/4" past where I cut off the hump drilled and tapped that part for my weaver rail.
Re-installed the site it backwards which offsets it to the rear.
I then mounted my scope, used a bore sighter and aligned where the rear hole of the weaver should be, marked it.
drilled the receiver of the Mosin and mounted the rear part.
Lock-tited both set screws and so far so good.

I cut the bolt and extended it with a $2 stainless bolt from the hardware store.
After welding it on with a standard wire feed, no special wire...
ground it
sanded with 320
polished with "brown" coarse polishing compound on the wheel.

Sorry about the picts. Cheeeezy camera phone since I have a weak image shack account and it wouldnt let me upload some quality ones.
