Tikka T3 is where its at

Postby Anokamnman on Sun Aug 19, 2012 11:48 pm

I borrowed a tikka t3 chambered in .243 from a family member. Said I could try it out for an extended period of time. Then decide if I want it. Ummmm.. Yes. I do want it. Got it so the wife would have something to deer hunt with. Its light. Its got enough boom to drop a deer and it is sexy. Such a smooth action on it. It has a nikon buck masters scope on it. Set up a target stand at 100 yards off our back deck and handed it to the wife. Fired a 5 shot group. 4 of the 5 were in the bull and one was an inch off. She will have no issues dropping a deer with it. As long as she can pull the trigger. this will be her first time hunting.

The wife was shocked at how accurate she can be with a nice set up. I should have got one of these a long time ago. Those Finns know how to build a rifle.

I love tikka rifles, I hope to own one soon. Not a big bolt kinda guy, but I have a soft spot for those guns :D

I am not a bolt action guy either. Had a couple of them. Didn't dig them. But this one is awesome. So smooth. If a follow up shot is needed, it won't be a problem. I personally will be using an AR chambered in 6.8spc. But I might use this if she stays in. might even use my mosin chambered in 45-70. So many choices.

Back on topic... I was also surprised at the lack of recoil. Granted the.243 isn't a huge round, but there is a considerable amount of powder. I figured since the rifle is so light, recoil would be worse. But I didn't feel hardly anything. And the wife loved it too.

I've shot a members tikka here that is chambered in .223 and it was an extremely soft hitter also. You get what you pay for!

been running a T3 lightweight hunter in 30-06 for several seasons now. it's one of the few guns in teh safe that will never leave. so smooth, great trigger, not too heavey tyo carry all day and withthe adrenaline of taking a shot int eh field, i don't feel nuthin on the back end even in 30-06.

damn fine rifles. shippy seal of approval all day long :D

enjoy the new hunter!

My little lady humps a T3 lite in 30-06 through the woods. I put a limbsaver on it, and she loves it. Damn accurate for a light contour barrel.

I had an early T3 in 25-06. I wish I had kept it, the action was very smooth and I think it was the best out of the box trigger for the money at the time (this was before everyone came out with there own latest and greatest adjustable trigger).

Nah, 25-06 needs to be able to stretch its legs a bit to really shine. Everyone in MN shoots them at closer distances. It was a great SD deer rifle!

I have the predecessor to the T3; the M595 in 7mm-08, and love this rifle.

I have shot the T3 Lite in .300 Win Mag for several shots in a row and it wasn't even that bad.
