I was looking for a Henry last year went to a few stores to try each model some stocks are a little differant when you pull them up. I would do the same and see which one feel good for you. I liked the looks of the golden boy but for me the frontier felt better. so I had fleetfarm order one for me. very nice fifle . Henry is a very good co. to work with. I also have a older marlin 39a very well built. both are nice rifles.

I. Love. Henry. Rifles.

End of story.

With buying christmas gifts for everyone and buying that savage single shot (see thread I made if you want to see it) think the henry will have to wait til after the new year. I should have some christmas money then I can throw towards it. And maybe my dealers will get them back in stock...

On the Henry rimfire rifles the receiver is zamak pot metal, not brass. The receiver cover is also zamak. On the Golden Boys, the zamak receiver cover is spray painted with "Brasslite" to make it look like brass. The brasslite coating is pretty thin and is pretty soft but holds up ok, at least it has for me in mild use. You can't really polish Brasslite like you can brass, but usually a coat of non-abrasive car wax will clean it up pretty well.

I think the butt plate on the Golden Boys is real brass, and maybe the barrel band, but that's the only brass on a rimfire Golden Boy.

The reason the Golden Boy felt different is that the stock has a steeper angle with a much greater drop-at-comb. There's no good way to scope it. I didn't care for the buckhorn sights, but a lot of guys cobble on a ladder sight with good results.

That’s interesting! I didn’t know Fleet Farm would special order. How much did they want down prior to ordering?

I was looking for a Henry tried a few differant models the H001 the Golden Boy and HOO1T frontier. I decided on theHOO1T frontier octagon barrel I liked how it pulled up and felt. so I asked fleetfarm what price I could get one for. They called me back gave me a good price so I went to the store paid for it up front. they ordered it came in less than a week. at the time they had a big boys toys deal spend $ 300.00 and get a $ 50.00 gift card. that made It a deal for me. that was almost a year ago.

I don't know much about Henry's other than the Golden boys and nice to look at. Save your money and picked up a nice used Winchester 9422. Rock solid and will last for many. many decades! Probably the best .22 lever action ever build save for the older Marlin 39's.

My local dealer has the H001 and the H001L in stock. held both, and they feel so awesome! After the new year I'm really thinking about putting one on layaway...

That's the direction I would go in a 22. I got the Henry because I like the looks of the golden boy, the ability to put a large lever loop on it, and it was available in 17 HMR

I've had the octogon barrel version for several year. My son has the youth model. Together, we've shot about a gazillion rds. through each. Now that I know it's made of the zamak pot-metal garbage, I'll probably just throw it away. Kinda sucks though, cuz it's been awesome.

I think you'd be foolish to throw it away. Granted, it's not a particularly high-quality firearm, but it is a lot of fun to shoot. I like mine a lot.

I wouldn't worry about the Zamak. I have 2000+ rounds through my HiPoint .40S&W without any issues.
