Where to find Ithaca 37...

Postby Ranger01 on Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:46 am

So, realized I'm missing something in my collection. A good shotgun. Due to my love for classic military firearms I narrowed my list down to 3 the 1897 and model 12 Winchesters, and the Ithaca Model 37. After deliberating a while I've narrowed it down to the Ithaca. Now, I need to find a parkerized, non engraved, non light-weight model. Any stores in the metro area have one on the rack? Length doesn't matter as it's getting chopped to 18" and a heat shield/ bayo lug put on it. Or better yet, anyone have one they'd be willing to part with?

I'd also be interested in other shotguns, but only if they are real US mil-surp trench guns... (not a fan of the chinese/ italian 97s)

(Not puttng this in the marketplace because I'm more asking if there are some out there. Also, for those wondering, the Baer is still on my list, just waiting for my tax refund.)

Look at the Gun Stop in downtown Shakopee. He had a few 37's.

Winchester 1200 also was in military service. It's also a very nice pumpgun that is somewhat underappreciated. You can usually find them cheaper than Ithacas.

I'll check out gunstop today.

A Win 1200 is a nice gun, but I prefer the bottom eject of the 37 (long story as to why.) If I can find a US Property marked 1200 Iwouldnt be opposed to it though. (Real provinance beats replica).

I thought I had what you wanted until I read Non lightweight, non engraved, They are a nice shotgun, if I remember correct the Military like them as the trigger could be held back and the gun would fire with each rack, "Slamfire" I don't know if the newer ones have this capability or not. Good Luck msn

I was in Capra's in Blaine last night, they still have it. I didn't look at it too close (they were busy), but it looks like a 18 or 20" barrel and has a full length mag tube.

Well Capras is bust. The 37 there is a new model... They did have a nice Smith 37 Airweight that tempted the hell out of me till my friends wouldn't give me my card I was prepared hah.

Ill stop in at metro tomorrow and hope the ones there are the old ones... Gunstop is also a possibility... 3" Mag would be nice as well (long story but I now have a lot of 3" Mag 00 Buck...)

I have a really old Ithaca Model 37 that was used as a barn-gun when I had bear problems on the farm.
I will check S/N for you to get an age.
Its semi-rough, but may fit your needs.
Let me know.
it has a 30" full-choke barrel on it.
Chambered 2.75" only.

Sportstop shakopee was bust, Gunstop was a bust (only engraved blued models in good enough condition that I wouldn't want to chop up and refinish).

Metro is my last shot for a store I think. Reading up on the newer onea though they don't seem too bad, and they might not actually have a disconnect... But I'd rather get an old one...

How about taking a trip to Ahlman's and see if there is a '37 down there?
