Home Defense Shotgun Training?

Postby Pat Cannon on Thu Feb 21, 2013 1:35 pm

Let's say I finally get around to buying a home defense shotgun. Where's a good place to go for some very basic training?

Also is there some kind of defensive shotgun competition around here, or do I have to buy a damn rifle too so I can shoot 3-gun?

Home Defense Shotgun Training?

TC IDPA puts on Defensive Multigun matches, I think at Forest Lake this summer.

Edit: Just realized you mentioned not having a rifle. There sometime 2 gun matches put on, but I don't know that they're defensive oriented.

Actually there's a huge tactical shotgun match in MN at the Del Tone Luth range in St. Cloud July 27th and 28th http://tacticalshotgunchampionship.com/

And yes, you should also buy a rifle and shoot 3-gun.

Guardian Tactical offers courses in home defense, and if all else fails, just fire two shots into the air as per Joe Biden.

Careful. Joe and the rest of the political/financial class have no need to fear arrest. You and I do.

Yeah, plus then your double-barrel shotgun is empty. :)

We offer some shotgun training as well. My training partner and I teach some shotgun courses at the local level. Also this year we are bringing in Louis Awerbuck for his shotgun 3 day class as well. Shoot me a pm if you're interested or check our web page for more info. http://www.timmtraining.com

I think Joe forgot he and the Mrs. have a Secret Service detail assigned to them 24x7. Not sure why he wants Mrs. joe blasting a double barrel in the middle of the night unless he's hoping the SS might take her as an enemy combatant. :o

That being said, I'll toss another vote towards the 4 day defensive shotgun course at Front Sight. While the owner is a little over the top, IMO, the instructors take their job seriously and provide a good course.

I have a buddy that has gone many years in a row. He has nothing but great things to say about it.
