I'd wonder how this would work with heavy bullets. Might have to seat them deep and use up case capacity.

Thanks for the explanation.
Yeah, that's definitely something I'd want to discuss before ordering a barrel so designed.

The CAA came with the lower and have not shot with it. Both guns are works in progress. I like the stock storage compartment and small rail on opposite side and that it doesn't look generic. It rattles a bit, but so do many Maggies. Easy fix. But the cheek piece is about as narrow as a CTR. I will swap to a carbine and replace with something wider. Maybe an STR for the wide, comfy cheek and locking function. But I have two of those so who knows?

Part of the reason for that rail, from what I read, is that they have an adjustable cheek piece you can add to it which mounts to the rail.

I looked hard at the STR for the same reason, but I don't need the battery tubes since I'm running an Aimpoint PRO. Hence what led me to lean toward the ACS-L to save a bit of weight.

18-20 week wait.

I've been looking at their stuff.
I can only guess what the turn around time is now...

I placed an order by phone near the end of January. This past week, I got an email Order Receipt, saying 20-24 weeks.

I think it's gonna be great. That is if DPMS could get their act together and ship me the rest of my lower parts I ordered the beginning of December. Then I might actually be able to have a whole gun!

Sooooooo, whaddya going to do with it once it shows up?

Immediately contacting you, so you can school me properly.

I also have no high grain ammo. The most I have is 5.56 62gr green tips, which I don't want to use in that. All my brass .223 ammo is just 55gr. So, I'm going to need help acquiring some proper ammo, if it's even in the cards given the current atmosphere.

I think the only other part I'm missing is a regulation sling.

Are you by chance familiar with their 'exclusive .223 WOA varmint chambering', and what it's features, benefits, and limitations, if any, might be?

I'm not.

The last I saw, they were all .223 Wylde, but I was only looking at the competition uppers. I didn't pay much attention to the varmint uppers.

Maybe it's a really tight .223 chamber for accuracy and can't shoot a 5.56. That's what it looks like on their website anyway. The competition uppers need to be able to shoot both, but accurately, hence .223 Wylde.

The lead time on uppers has gone from 18-20 weeks, to 6 months. Thank God I ordered when I did or I'd miss all Spring and Summer.

Palmetto seems to have 77gr SMK's in stock more often than Midway and for the same price. I buy 500 at a time which works out to about 24 cents a pill delivered.

If you guys belong to any clubs or ranges, Nosler offers outstanding club pricing, especially on bulk bullets. Wait times are getting pretty long, but the prices can't be beat. Their .223 bullets are on par quality-wise with Sierra and lots of the local service rifle gang are now shooting them. I have shot lots of their pistol bullets and have a lot of .223 77's and 80's ordered right now that will show up eventually.

Their rules for club buys may be getting stricter, when we ordered a couple of months ago we were required to submit a roster of team members who would shoot for the club at team matches.

May be worth looking into if you meet the ordering criteria.

No, I don't. I wish. I save all my brass though.
