Who bought up all the MN T53's?

Postby BemidjiDweller on Wed Mar 06, 2013 10:07 pm

For the last few weeks I have been keeping tabs on some place's T53 inventory. For the place that showed how many they had in stock, they had 250ish a few weeks ago and this morning they had 135ish. When I looked tonight, they were sold out. I went to check SOG who had some this morning and they are sold out too. I can't find T53s anywhere now. Who bought all these up? There were tons this morning, now none. :(

I am assuming that you are talking about the Chinese Type 53...Fleet Farm @ (507) 281-1130. There must have been 12-18 when I was there earlier today.

What are they going for right now?

I've seen them usually $144 some places to $99 at SOG. A pawn shop in Ramsey has one for $299

Are they any good? I have heard some pretty bad things about them so far. I do like mosins though, and the Russian carbine's are getting spendy now.

I am gonna try and turn mine into a shooter. I figured if I am going to try my hand at some home customization I had better start on a cheap weapon. With that being said, if there are enough in stock like down here in Rochester, you can find some pretty decent bores. Time will tell.

I've got a T53, there isn't anything wrong with mine. Stock and metal aren't in the best shape, but thats why I prefer them over the M44s. There are two classes of Mosins to me; pretty ones ya collect, and beat up ones you use.

Tons of them at local Fleet Farms, especially Blaine. All in pretty rough shape.

So far I have yet to see one with good furniture but the bores have looked great. Got mine from a local dealer out here in SW MN. He has 2 in stock as of yesterday.

I just sold the last one of a crate full. The wood was horrible and the bluing almost gone on all of them, but they all had great bores. A decent shooter for around $100, but I wouldn't pay much more than that for one. The refurbed 91/30's are much nicer at the same price.

If anyone is looking for any T53's, SOG seems to have them back in stock.

My T53 shoots nicer than my 91/30, easier to handle too
