Was going to use this on an SBR. But I just couldn't wait on the ATF. Guess I will just have to buy another.

Damn, that's sexy. Of course, I'm a little biased.

You've got the first mass produced .223 STD. There's a few pre-production .223 units floating around out there.

Thanks again for the purchase. Go shoot it! ;)

So... who can cut, crown and thread a mini barrel so I can get an std too?

Looks like an extended choke from the side. That'll throw people off. :)

Got a chance to meet FJ540 and see the first ones in person yesterday at Atomic Tactical. Nice piece! Was nice talking to FJ as well. I might have to pick one of them up for myself and give it a black phosphate treatment.

I don't think the phosphate will stick. I'm trying to get some samples from an outfit here that has a cold blackening process for stainless, but I'm not sure of that timeline right now.

I'll also have them in matte (bead blasted) in the not too distant future as well. Those will cost a little more (as will black), but it's too early to say how much. It's also possible that I'll make some in 4140 that'll take to parkerizing and go that route. I'm just really set on having something that doesn't have designed obsolescence in any aspect of it. There's millions of gun owners - I don't need to sell replacements for stuff that shouldn't wear out. ;)

I need a replacement 5.56STD for the one that wore out to point it doesn't exist.

You need to own one before you can use it up. :P

They're selling them at wholesale to get the word out. This won't last long.

I held one on Wednesday. Solid piece, and pretty impressive in it's simplicity to me.

I suppose I could buy one now, and buy an AR to put it on later...

That's how BRD (black rifle disease) works. It's not uncommon for a spare detent to turn into a whole rifle. :D

I can attest to the validity of that problem. Maybe I should sell my spare parts to prevent #6.

Hi, got a question regarding the STD. For 223 you use 1/2-28 threads. I'm considering buying a 223 barrel threaded 5/8-24. Will I get the flash suppression of the 1/2-28 units intended for 223 if I screw on the 5/8-28 threaded unit designed for 30 cal ??

Your spin would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is this a bull barrel? I can't think of any reason anyone would want those threads on that caliber.

Got to meet Jim today and had an STD mounted on my Colt Target Match Grade AR. It was a pleasure meeting him and getting to see his shop. I cannot wait to try it out and will post results after I get to the range.
