Black Rain billet lower with color fill

Postby madFatter on Sun Jul 21, 2013 3:15 pm

Bought a BR lower and was on the fence about color fill. Tried searching the web for examples but could only find 1 picture in yellow. Decided to go for it and see if I like it. Wife and I are happy with the outcome. Figured I would share it for the next intrepid web explorer to find.

Testors enamel, thinned down. Applied with an insulin syringe. Worked pretty slick, fast and no clean up.

Thank you for the compliments! I'll admit, there were a few "OH S#!@" moments before I switched tactics and went to the syringe. With the right tools, it's an easy job. Buying the syringes was somewhat entertaining also.
me: I need the smallest syringes you have.
pharmacist: (unamused stare) If you're scared of needles, I think you need a new hobby.
m: No, no. I'm going to use them the fill the engravings on a rifle with paint.
p: (dumbfounded stare) You are going to PAINT... a GUN... with a NEEDLE? I do not have time for this #@$% today.
But then she got me their smallest syringes. 31ga .5in 1CC insulin syringes FYI. 10 pack for $3.50. Worked great for the small stuff, had a tendency to bend a little and flick paint on the bigger area.

Looks really good, did you paint the red right on or did you lay a coat of white down first then red?

That's just red, I didn't want the extra brightness.
