			It really is amazing to think of your first rifle being as iconic as it apparently has become.  I remember my Dad taking me to Woolworths and asking me which rifle I wanted and I picked out the 10/22 - was the proudest day for me up to that moment.  had to be around 1978.  I believe I was only allowed to get it after going through the merit badge training at Scout camp.  My cousin and I would hunt rabbits and squirrels on his step dads land on Pleasant Lake south of Eveleth.  Lots of great memeries.  Still use it for Thanksgiving Friday Bunny hunts.  
I bought a cheepo folding polymer stock for it about 10 years ago and a super cheap scope.  May need to rethink that seeing some of the nice rifles posted here.
