10/22 Love

Hey guys, seeing as its October 22nd I'd say its a perfect opportunity to post up some 10/22's. Mine was my first ever gun, last year I replaced the barrel and stock with an E.R. Shaw 18" and a houge stock to make it all fit and topped it with a Nikon 22LR 3x9. Nothing but a $.25 trigger job on it yet, maybe a Volquartsen trigger kit for Christmas.

I think the only Ruger part on this whole rifle is the receiver, an old one from 1992 that I picked up from my LGS for $60 a few years ago. Is it extraordinarily accurate.

My first gun as well, 1988. Completely original and beat to heck. Still as accurate as day one, no misfires. Now my daughter uses it.

My favorite is my first 10/22, just like the one in CJB's pic. Purchased back in '86 and used a TON. Last year I decided to pick up another one and play around with a tack-driver, but it's still a work in progress...

Liberty rifle I built a few years ago for an Appleseed event. The receiver was really beat up and pitted to I stripped it down and painted it with an epoxy paint. It's been holding up just fine. Aftermarket stock and parts to make the trigger nice. The shell casing for mag release and bolt are maybe a bit "bubba" but they are easily undone if I decide they are too silly.

I'm surprised to not see any takedown models. I've really been eying them lately as a lighter alternative & as a truck gun. Some pretty sweet builds none the less

I put this 10/22 together as a Valentine's Day present for my girlfriend. It's a 1998 vintage I picked up with the Bushnell scope already mounted. Added an extended magazine release and the pink laminate stock.

I got my 10/22 as my first gun on my 12th birthday back in 1974. I can still remember taking the cover off the box and seeing it for the first time.

Nice lookin carbines here. Pick up a new stainless fluted er shaw 17m2 barrel at the medina flea market a few years ago. Popped a red squirrel last night.
It is a nightmare for feral cats, chipmunks and red squirrels.

It really is amazing to think of your first rifle being as iconic as it apparently has become. I remember my Dad taking me to Woolworths and asking me which rifle I wanted and I picked out the 10/22 - was the proudest day for me up to that moment. had to be around 1978. I believe I was only allowed to get it after going through the merit badge training at Scout camp. My cousin and I would hunt rabbits and squirrels on his step dads land on Pleasant Lake south of Eveleth. Lots of great memeries. Still use it for Thanksgiving Friday Bunny hunts.

I bought a cheepo folding polymer stock for it about 10 years ago and a super cheap scope. May need to rethink that seeing some of the nice rifles posted here.
