For $100-$150 there are no cons. Just a really robust rifle that is going up in price.

I've shot mosin's but don't own one 'cause the surplus ammo is corrosive and I'm not dilligent about cleaning right after shooting. But absolutely nothing wrong with a mosin, they are about as brutally simple of a rifle as you can get.

I actually had a Finn M39 for a short while, and while they command a premium, they are rebuilt to what a mosin should be. I ended up selling it and bought some K31's with some GP11 ammo instead.

While not all are accurate, this post was hilarious.

I'm still on the wall. I want one, but they all look like they need serious cleaning before and after.

You will need to especially shooting spam can ammo. The primers are corrosive. But for $100, really who care, it shoots minute of deer all day long!!!

If you buy one and want to check headspace, I have a gage you can use.

Also is say look for a Tula, they seam to generally be a little nicer, not always but generally. Also look for exsnipers, they can be found mixed in with the others, neat history to own. A good place to look for ex snipers is (I can't believe I'm telling you to go here) Gander. They want $180 for them, but they sometimes have rd snipers mixed in. Also Gander will price match, go buy ec sniper, come back next day and ask them to price match fleet farm.

My father in law has one. Doesn't know much about there history, and it turns out to be a double dated MO.. lucky.

Don't worry too much about the cleaning, one or two patches of Hoppes#9 through the bore takes care of most of the corrosive residue. How much you clean it after that is up to you.
I've bought M39s that had an incredible amount of copper fouling in them, in other words they were never thoroughly cleaned. After I cleaned them up they shot great, and they still have mirror like bores.

Any idea what a 1934 Tula with a Hex receiver is worth? It has bayonette , oil can and pouch. I also have some surplus ammo and Privi (partial box) I got in a trade. It's a beautiful gun but not really my style. I'm considering either selling it or giving it as a Christmas present to my wife's uncle. He came here from Siberia and loves the old Russian guns.

$150 +- $50 maybe? Sometimes you can find them at fleetfarm for $89, Gunbroker they're asking over 150 lately.

I paid $140 for my '30 Hex at a gun show in 2008 I think.
