Ruger Gunsite Scout AKA GSR

Postby KimberMan on Sun Dec 22, 2013 9:15 pm

I was wondering if anybody has one of these and if they have had any problems because I had some yesterday at the range. I only had enough time to pop off 50 rounds and here are some of the issues I encountered.

First: the very first round in the mag when fully loaded wouldn't "catch" on the bolt unless you really and i mean really forced it.

Second: the bolt wont always lift all the way up for extraction.

Third: the magazine blew into 3 pieces after 25-30 rounds (I was able to put it back together)

Fourth: part of the magazine well/trigger guard broke and this is what it looks like when trying to load. (see picture)

any help would be great.

Ruger has pretty good customer service. I'd give them a call after the holidays.

Sounds like you've got a lemon... Contact Ruger with your issues, and send it back.

I also vote with contacting Ruger, although it sounds like it was a magazine issue, not necessarily a rifle issue, at least to start out with. (obviously now that the mag well is broke, that will cause problems....)

Are you running the original metal magazine or the later polymer mags?
