If you want to pump ammo through it, of the 4 options, 5.56 and 7.62x39 are really the only game in town if buying ammo off the shelf.

That's a fair point. I wonder, are the Beretta barrels interchangeable the way AR uppers are? Is it possible to get the 5.56 one for 3-gun and "economical" practice and be able to swap to a 6.8 SPC or 300BLK barrel for hunting?

Kin saw a video a few months ago and if I remember correctly, the swaps are very easy. The 300blk is just a barrel change. Others require barrel, bcg and mag well changes (I'm assuming)

Personally, I'd go with the 300blk

Forget 6.8 SPC. It's a great cartridge, BUT it's even harder to find than a brick of 22 LR!! Seriously! Even if you want to get just brass, the waiting time on backorder can be 2 - 5 months... :x :x :x

Looks like midway has Remington and Hornady in stock right now. Remington up to 1000ct packs.

That's the first time in a LOOONG time that Midway, Grafs, or Natchez has had ANY 6.8 brass at all. I've been looking since late last fall. And for 100, it's more like $65... :( :o  :?

Never seen a box of loaded ammo for sale, and that includes Gouger Mountain AND Cabela's, plus Wolf's Den.

Sorry to disagree but loaded 6.8 is one load that Cabela's in Rodgers has had in stock throughout the drought. Granted it is not in the .223 category for plinking costs but available, was able to order several different deer loads I wanted to try last summer as well on line.

6.8 has not been hard for me to locate. Loaded rounds or components. Try LWRC for once fired brass ($280/1000). LAXAMMO.com has S&B 110 gr for $13.50/20 with 5% of that if you order tomorrow.

Now you have to keep your eyes peeled, but it's out there.

Heinous typos thanks to autocorrect.
