I caught the info about the Wolf ammo on another forum. Looking forward to giving it a try. Would be nice to have some plinking ammo for when a friend wants to try it....then I don't have to burn up my good hand loads. ;)

Ok guys I need some help...

I got some new magazines in the mail today from Midway USA. They are the C Products Defense line. I was given a 10 round magazine with the rifle. Loads all 10 rounds just fine. The second one will only hold 9. The 25 round model side walls are so thin it seems like with only 5 rounds in it budges to the point where I can't insert it into the magazine well without forcing it. And takes equal amount of effort to get it out as well. So I've ruled the two magazines I got are junk. Will be contacting C Products to see if I can get replacements sent out.

Also another thing I tried tonight was to chamber a round into the gun tonight with the 10 round magazine with 10 rounds loaded. Wouldn't go into battery. Had to use the forward assist, and every once in awhile that wouldn't even do it. The gun will only chamber a round fully when there is only 1 round in the magazine. Then I pull the charging handle to eject the round and it gets hung up. Now I understand this all happens alot faster and with more force when the gun is being fired. But I would think I could get it to do the simple operations with just my hand... My Armalite M15A4 does it just fine. I've lubed the crap out of the bolt, carrier, and made sure the chamber was clean, and free of junk. This rifle has never been fired to my knowledge. I also noticed the upper receiver doesn't have M4 style cut outs for the feed ramps. Wondering how this will affect how the rifle runs...

Any ideas? Again I know I can't condemn anything since I haven't shot it yet. I double checked the upper build, and everything seems to be put together correctly, and torqued to spec.

On magazines I'm using ar-stoners from midway, I've used the 5 rounders with no problems but I haven't opened any of the other ones. Elander is releasing new mags for the Grendel soon which should be good.

What kind of barrel do you have? There has been issues with improperly cut chambers. You should check out the Grendel forum they have literally written the book (2 of them) on th Grendel and can help you with your issues.

Well I was able to give the rifle a really good cleaning. I worked the action like a 100+ Times and lubed the bolt and carrier. It is much smoother. I down loaded the 10 round mags to 5 and test fired the rifle. First five rounds were rough. Couple ftf and fte. Next 5 rounds ran flawlessly. It was the wolf gold ammo. I plan on using the Hornady ammo in this gun. Will get my dope with that ammo. Scope should be here Monday. Still have to get a scope mount.

I need to get rings still. I ended up putting that Weaver scope on my Howa 1500 308 rifle. I also just got a Mossberg MVP rifle in 5.56mm with a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12-44 scope. That is a really nice piece of glass for the money. I might have to save up, and get another Vortex optic for the Grendel.

Phatspeed7x,

How goes it? Did you get an optic on it yet...and how did the magazine issue turn out?

I've been working up loads for mine. Got some 95 gr Hornady V-Max that are doing good enough for varmint shooting. With Benchmark powder, a 5 shot group averages 2910 FPS in a .694" group. With Aliant 2230-S Data powder, a 5 shot group averages 2834 FPS in a .585" group. Also working on some Nosler 120gr Ballistic Tips and some Hornady 123gr A-Max.
